I've been madly obsessing over glass fleck and duo chrome nail polish finishes lately! Maybe I've broken out of my creme habit (hopefully)! Claire's and Icing is having my most favorite sale, 10 for $10 clearance sale. You can choose 10 items that were originally priced under ten dollars (not the already marked down price) and get then for $10! Sadly, I didn't do this this time around. I did however pick up two Nail polishes that were on clearance for $2.50, Bad Apple and Evil Queen which of course are pretty duo chrome / glass fleck Pics up later :)

Awhile back I purchased Color Club's Gossip Column, which is a gorgeous creme finish deep navy blue color. I decided to take it out and give it ago since it was just sitting pretty in my nail polish drawer. One application would've been fine but I'm a two kind of gal. Like any other girl I wanted sparkle! I decided to spruce it up with Zoya's Ivanka, which is an amazing emerald green with gold and green flecks. And boy did I like the out come...

Do you put a sparkly topcoat on a plain polish?

Nail of the day: Essie No Boundaries with OPI Silver Shatter

What do you think of the Silver Shatter? Have you tried it?
Let me know what you think!

Monday, April 25, 2011

I know I would say that I'd post my dusty findings at the end of each week but I just couldn't wait till Friday to share my amazing finds!

Awhile ago my favorite nail supply store, Kali's Nail Supply, posted on their Facebook that they pulled out some China Glaze OMG Collection polishes. Of course I had to go and grab as many as I can! Let me tell you, if you are on the island of O'ahu you absolutly HAVE to check out Kali's! I swear, her and her husband are oozing amazing customer service! So anyways, I got all of the China Glaze OMGs for $20 :) Amazing score right?

Essie in 'No Boundaries' and OPI's Silver Shatter from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection *huge Johnny Depp fan here!*. I got the Silver Shatter from Merle Norman cosmetics.

Here's a swatch of Silver Shatter over Savin's Midnight (basic black)

I got tired of Sally Hansen's Holographic polish so I decided to change it to the beautiful China Glaze GR8 holo. I'm kind of bummed that my topcoat kind of killed the Holo :( After an hour of wearing it I decided to do a Bundle Monster Stamp.

This past week I found some real gems while dusting. If you don't know what 'dusting' is, in the nail world it means:

Dusties are nail salons and beauty supply stores with old polish stock that sits so long in the store that it literally has collected dust.
-What Is Dusting? By LolaB (article here)

Today I went by a local nail supply store in Hawaii called Kali's. It's a small quiet store with every professional nail polish brand you can think of (except OPI). The store is owned by Kali and her husband, a very friendly couple that provides superb customer service, and the best I've seen at that. The best part of this supply store is that every once a week or every two weeks Kali fills up her $2 bin! YES! A $2 bin with discontinued or old packaged nail polish! I picked up the Jessica Hot Flashes Mood Changing nail polish, Orly and CND.

On Monday I went to a shop in Waikiki named Neoplaza. They sell everything from herbal supplement to cute little trinkets and my most favorite, nail polish! The one thing that will keep me coming back to Neoplaza is their prices. They sell Nubar, OPI, Kleancolor, Orly and Zoya way under suggested retail price. I almost fainted. The OPI regular price for them is $6.95 but was on sale for $5. Can you say score? I picked up three OPI's in the back of my pocket, That's Hot! Pink and Significant Other Colors. For some reason, they had some Nubar colors on clearance or marked down for $3.99 so I decided to pick up two and also two kleancolors.

(left to right) In the back of my pocket, That's Hot! Pink, Significant Other Colors, DS Amethyst (swapped) and CG GR8 (Swapped)

Has anyone seen these before? I have some Jessica polishes but I've never see these before! There mood changing. Local beauty supply store was selling it for only $2 so I decided to pick up most of the colors

Patient Pink - Light Pink to White, Volatile Violet - Violet to Pink, Lusty Lilac - Lilac to Silver, Paranoid Purple - Purple to Pink, Fearless Fushia - Fushia to Pink

Get a Grip, Reality Check, I Don't Think So

Limited Edition, Baroque

Blush Diamond, Fire Opal

Super Natural Gold, Mystique Aqua

Holo Orange, Holo Blue

Aloha Luau, Hula Girl

nocti's B08 (never heard of this brand), Zoya Ivanka (swapped)

If you don't have your hands on a Holographic polish then you sir or ma'adm are missing out!

Holographic polishes contain rainbow colored glitter, which changes color on the reflection of light. This finish is very obvious in sun light.
-Lacquerized (here)

Originally I was planning on wearing a beautiful green color for Earth Day, but after a failed attempted at OPI Simply Smashing (I was just not feelin' it), I decided to go to Holo route.

Last week I purchased Nubar's 2010 off of ebay and I am loving it. I also got Orly's Royal Velvet in a swap, I must admit I'm not a huge fan of duo chrome's but this color is lovely and pairs so nicely with 2010. Also, if you've been lemming a matte topcoat then may I recommend Hard Candy's Matte-ly In Love. You can get it at Wal-Mart for $4 ($5 Hawaii). I'm not too sure if it's limited edition or permanent. I apologize for such horrible pictures, I tried to capture the matte-ness as well as I could.

Nubar 2010 over Orly Royal Velvet with Hard Candy's Matte-ly InLove.

It's official, my new favorite polish is OPI's 'That's Hot! Pink' (it use to be China Glaze's High Hopes). It's such a gorgeous hot pink color that I haven't seen before. This is defiantly one color I could wear week after week and not get tired of it.

Premier Nail Source.com

So if you watched my last nail haul video then you’d know that I made a big purchase with them the first time I ordered with this site. I’m glad to say that I am pleased with them, exactly ECSTATIC! Since my last haul I’ve order from them twice. Their customer service is amazing, I’ve contacted them three times to ask about their products and they responded back to me that day.

This site is honestly amazing and if they had a store, I’d be the first customer inside. They have items for professional nail techs to guys and gals who just love nail polish or decal. I do my cousins, moms and my nails all the time so when I needed some new nail implements and sanitary products the first place I went to was Premier Nail Source. Shipping is nothing that will make your wallet cry with a FLAT RATE PRICE OF $2.95 (for residential areas)! And their not like other companies that try to pack all your items in one box to save money. My first order came in two different packages with A LOT of packing peanuts to ensure nothing cracks or spills. I was very pleased.

Unlike other companies, Primer Nail Source does indeed ship nail polish to Hawaii and trust me this is a HUGE plus in my book. Not only am I getting cheap China Glaze, I’m also getting the convenience of picking it out in the comfort of my own home without feeling rushed.

Just to compare with the best, I walked into Sally’s Beauty Supply store the other day and I was AMAZED at the prices! The whole time I was walking through the store I was thinking to myself “I saw this on Premier Nail Source and it was way cheaper!”. Just to show and prove to you the competition here’s a comparison:

INM Northern Lights Holographic Topcoat:

Sally’s Beauty Supply (see HERE)- .5 oz or 1/2oz for $6.49 (without Sally’s Card)

Premier Nail Source (see HERE) - .5oz or 1/2oz for $4.95

And may I add that if you see anywhere else cheaper Premier Nail Source will match or even beat the price. PLUS shipping is only $2 (no weight limit!)

Here are some pictures of my last order :):

Very nicely packaged and A LOT of packing peanuts to ensure nothing spills or cracks.

1. Nail Art Paint Set 6ct in PEARL (left) and PRIMARY (right) - $2.95 EA.
2. Buy one get on FREE Rapidcure 9-Watt UV Bulb - $4.95 one, 2nd one was FREE.
3. Polish Display Board - $1.00
4. Porcelain Dappen Dish w/ Lid - $1.00 (Sally’s $3.49 See HERE)
5. Sanding Sticks 12ct - $1.00 (Sally’s $0.39EA. 12 for $4.68 See HERE)
6. Rubber Polish Holder 2ct - $1.00
7. Sanding Bands 100ct in Medium Grit - $3.95
8. Tech Tools Cuticle Pusher / Pterygium Remover - $2.95
9. Nail Basix Flat Sable Acrylic Brush - $1.00
10. Nail Basix Single Spring Cuticle Nipper - $3.95
11. Star Nail Deluxe Metal Acrylic Brush - $1.00
12. 3 Empty Rhinestone Wheel (12 Slots) - $0.39 EACH ($1.17 for 3)

They sell everything you need from a wide range of brands of acrylic powder, acrylic liquid, nail decal, practice fingers, wheels, CND, China Glaze, Color Club and the list goes on!

(Left to Right) Sinful Colors 'Nirvana'- $1.99, Wet n' Wild 'Party of Five'- $1.99, LA Colors Color Craze 'Cactus'- $1.99, LA Colors Color Craze 'Jewel Tones'- $1.99

All colors were applied over a BLACK base color.
(Left to Right) Wet n' Wild 'Party of Five', LA Colors Color Craze 'Jewel Tones'LA Colors Color Craze 'Cactus', LA Colors Color Craze 'Cactus' with MATTE topcoat

I didn't have a color like LA Colors Color Craze in 'Cactus' and it looked absolutly beautiful in the bottle. Unfortunately the color worn by itself has no chance of building up color to make it appear how it looks in the bottle. After being let down I decided to apply a black base to it then apply 'Cactus' and let me say, I'm in love. It's such a beautiful color. This is going on my nails next!

Btw, here's a swatch of Sinful Color's 'Nirvana' from the Polka Dots collection

LA Colors had some new nail art items for $1.99 I don't usually purchase nail stickers but since the designs were nice and big (and not those puny designs) I went ahead and purchased them. Sadly, there was only one sheet that was a 2X2 square...bummer :/
If you don't already know Border's is bankrupt and is closing some of their stores around the U.S I went ahead and checked out what they had and along with purchasing a book I bought the Burt's Bees Cuticle Cream, I'm not too sure what the regular price was or how much I got it for but I know that it was 30% off. I've been dying to try this product because it's gotten so many good reviews, not only from beauty gurus but magazine's! And since it was on sale I picked it up for a great price.

Today the boyfriend and I decided to do a little shopping. I haven't spent time with him since I got back from the P.I so it was nice spending quality time with him. One of our shopping destinations was Walgreens. I don't usually find anything appealing to the eye but I noticed that Sinful Colors came out with their (assuming)spring collection which is called 'Polka Dots'.
The display was on the highest shelf so I couldn't get a better picture of the colors, sorry. If you see that white paper on the left side of the display it's a short tutorial on how to do each polka dots with a tooth pick.

All of the colors are cream finishes, which are nice because I love cream finishes
(Left to right) Pink Forever, Innocent, Why Not, Salvage, Hazard, Unicorn, Nirvana and Fig

I absolutely fell in love with Nirvana which is a gorgeous milk chocolate brown.
